Kangaroo Valley is such a perfect destination for a romantic getaway from Sydney. Joe and I were celebrating our 3 year anniversary this weekend and couldn’t have picked a better spot! We stayed at this stunning Airbnb in Upper Kangaroo Valley with one side of the house completely made of windows, opening up to a gorgeous valley view. Sharing all my tips below on how to eat, drink and explore your way through the NSW southern highlands in this Kangaroo Valley travel guide.
It's a really sleepy area, with those historic country town type Main Streets that you’ll drive through on your way. You’ll find a handful of cute antique stores and book shops you’ll definitely want to pop into them to see their quirky charm. We even found a couple of cute items for our home! ✨
Theres a ton of fresh food, given there are farms surrounding this entire area. You’ll definitely find yourself really fresh food, farm to fork! Check out all my recommended spots below.
Another reason we loved this area was for the wine. We went to the cutest little winery called Yarrawa Estate. The sweet older couple who runs the place were so cute & kind. The cellar door is literally a converted living room in their home. The wine was good and they’re very generous with the tastings. You won’t find more country charm than this place!
Finally, the ANIMALS! You all know I’m an animal lover by now, and I just loved waking up to animals since we stayed on a working farm. We saw cows, kookaburras, rainbow lorikeet, wombats, horses, sheep, and so much more both on our little farm stay as well as throughout a majority of the drive. You’ll find platypuses there if you’re patient enough to spot them!
From outdoorsy bush walks, waterfall hikes, and farm animals to relaxing baths, amazing views, and good wine, Kangaroo Valley is the perfect anniversary getaway. A+, will go again!
