2 days in uluwatu, bali

Uluwatu is a gorgeous little pocket of Bali, and somewhat more luxurious than other areas. You can definitely find your fair square of backpacker spots and bed and breakfasts, but there are also a lot of very nice resorts nearby the golf course. The beaches in this area are so beautiful, and the overlooking cliffs near many of them allow you to see just how beautiful the beaches and blue waters of Bali are.

Even the resort we stayed at Klapa Resort, was still very reasonable for what you would pay for a 4-5 star resort anywhere else. We paid around $70 USD/night during rainy season. An amazing breakfast was also included, and it was right on the beach with an awesome rooftop pool overlooking the green jungley hills and ocean.

As I shared on my Bali planning post, you won’t need many nights here (1-2 is enough) if you’re squeezed for time & want to travel all around Bali. Many just do a day trip here too, which would be fine. It is gorgeous though, and very relaxing. So if you’re looking to get in some zzz's and beach time in, you'd love it here. Here’s what you won’t want to miss in Uluwatu:

My Uluwatu To-Do List

  • Uluwatu Temple - temple sitting on beautiful cliffs overlooking the ocean. Watch out for cheeky monkeys - they are little thieves! Make sure to put on a sarong out front before entering.

  • GWK Cultural Park - lots of cool Indonesian artwork and statues -- they're currently building a 120m statue as the main attraction. There is an entrance fee of IDR 100K, or $7.50 USD

  • Beaches

  • Bingin Beach - located on the Bukit which means "hill" in Indonesian and is known for its stunning view

  • Dreamland Beach

  • Padang Padang - this beach probably the most famous in all of Bali as it's known as the best surf spot in Bali and was featured in Eat Pray Love

  • Suluban Beach Caves - one of Bali's coolest beaches (and located close to the Uluwatu temple) with its white sand and clear blue water. They can only be accessed by foot, so you'll need to get dropped off by Single Fin and walk down the staircase to the left of the restaurant's entrance.

  • Single Fin - this restaurant is amazing, overlooking the water! Go just before sunset for drinks and dinner. It turns into a fun bar at night too! This was my favorite spot in Uluwatu and is an absolute must. Try to get a reservation in advance!

  • El Kabron - Spanish restaurant with amazing views and tapas! Book a reservation.

  • Warung Cikgo - an amazing Indonesian hole in the wall lunch spot that our driver showed us. The food was great and it's really cheap!
