I recently discovered an awesome coffee company in San Francisco that I’m obsessed with. Intelligentsia Coffee has a really cool story behind their coffee, so I wanted to share it with my San Francisco readers. The founders are from San Francisco initially, prior to their relocation to Chicago to open their first coffee bar in 1995, back when fresh roasted coffee was surprisingly not so popular and hard to find! I love that they have roasted the coffee in store for so many years now!
Now, they have these really cool coffeebars, Roasting Works, wholesale offices, and training labs in Chicago, LA, New York, Atlanta, and of course San Francisco. Intelligentsia Coffee recently expanded their San Francisco Roasting Works location. It’s located in Potrero Hill and is completely renovated. Now they not only offer amazing coffee, but also a really cool barista training lab (not to mention how cute it is inside). It’s a super sleek and rustic looking spot - you guys should all definitely go check it out!
If you’re a coffee snob, like all of us San Franciscans are (or are probably trying to become), you’ll totally geek out over their state-of- the-art brewing equipment by La Marzocco, Mahlkönig, Fetco and Marco and is roasted in small batches daily on a 1952 Probat UG 22 roaster.
I love that you can order coffee from Intelligentsia - as long as it’s ordered by 1 pm, it will be shipped the following business day. They also have weekly coffee tastings on Wednesdays at 10 AM, which are AWESOME. I’m still figuring out what blends I like, so it’s the perfect time to experiment.

I’m hoping to take advantage of the training lab soon to learn how to make myself some fancy pants coffee drinks! Who wants to join me in a class!!?
