I was one of the early ClassPass adopters in San Francisco a couple years back and absolutely loved it for its variety of workouts and studio options. Sometimes just going to the gym or the same workout class can get monotonous and boring. Same with eating! I'll go in waves and make the same types of breakfasts or dinners or bring the same lunch to work, and after awhile, the thought of that same meal almost makes me feel sick just thinking about it, SO, that's when you know it's time to mix things up.
Soma Eats New Greek Salad
(Pulled chicken, almonds, avocado, sun-dried tomato tapenade, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, mixed greens, baby kale, romaine, Greek yogurt dressing)
Now back to why I brought up ClassPass - I recently discovered that one of the founders are onto their next endeavor: MealPal. I teamed up with @MealPalApp to sample this amazing service this week. I tried 5 different restaurants to get a variety and enjoyed all of them, but definitely loved the Soma Eats salad the best (highly recommended)!
Lymphomaniac Smoothie from Elixiria
(red grapes, pear, lemon, ginger, cherry, juniper, berry, red clover, cleaves, kelp)
Ok so you're probably wondering how it works by now. Let me break it down. $119/month for lunch every single workday. That's less than $6/meal from amazing restaurants where I already often grab lunch and it ends up being at least $12 - in San Francisco it's a given that you'll pay at least that to eat out for lunch. So, I truly think this service is a steal.
Each participating restaurant (so far it's live in SOMA and FiDi with a ton of good options) has one dish they offer per day. You have the option to view the menu and choose your meal from the 100s of restaurants from 7 pm the day before up until 9:30 am that day. You also will choose a 15 minute window in which you'd like to pick it up - and yes, you can skip the line, it's all ready for you and everything when you get there. SO EASY!
Urban Picnic Slaw Salad
(watermelon, pickled veggies, onions, herbs, peanuts, oil-free garlic lime vinaigrette)
Fayala Carne Asada Burrito Bowl
(lettuce, refried beans, pico de gallo, guacamole, carne asada, sprinkled with cheese and sour cream)
Currently, there's a waitlist to join, as MealPal still expanding it's San Francisco presence, but The Urbanite Insight followers can jump to the front of the waitlist by signing up on MealPal's website.
Tava Indian Kitchen Lamb Dahl Salad
(grass-fed lamb, dahl, lettuce, cilantro chutney)
Enjoy spicing up your lunches! :) Looking forward to hearing what everyone else thinks of this awesome startup!
